Upon his return home from the Army, Tom Foote went back to school at Thomas Jefferson College in Allendale, Michigan. While there, he discovered the concept of group-centered activities utilizing the structure of “game play” as a medium for producing change in participants.
The source of this discovery came as the result of the work of Viola Spolin. Ms. Spolin had studied under and been inspired by the work of Neva Boyd, an early pioneer of the 20th Century Social Work Movement. Boyd’s findings concluded that group activities structured around game play involve Body and Mind, and as a result structured game play has the potential to release the Intuitive in anyone.
Tom has been conducting Spolin Theater Games for groups of people that include students, employees, blue collars, professionals and retirees for more than 33 years.
